riding, mead and a house full of 2 year olds!

Sunday was a nice day, and I hadn't been for a ride on Saturday, so off I went out beyond Kaiapoi for a ride to Havill's Meadery. The ride took an hour and 36min and was 36km (I think), with a head wind most of the way! It was a good ride though and a slightly better time than last week. Google maps doesn't want to to put my route on the map, but I went from Spreydon to just north of Ohoka. (If you click on view larger map, you'll get the route details).

Now, there was a point to riding to Havill's Meadery... the bee club were meeting out there on a field trip to learn a bit about Mead (an alcoholic drink made from honey, like wine about 14% alcohol) and to sample Havill's meads - yum! We bought some Rata Honey Mead, it was darker in colour and smoother than the clover and manuka honey meads. Simon has also got some honey mead brewing at home, it fact he 'racked' it last night. It was a busy day yesterday as we also re-arranged our laundry. The shelves are above the sink and the washing machine (and when we re-hang it, the dryer) are in the corner where the shelves used to be. It's great as there's now heaps more space where the washing machine was so that I can store the buggy, ladder and other bits like that. Also, Simon is thinking about putting in a shelf above the washing machine for powder etc and possibly making a pull out or hinged cupboard under the sink for the dirty laundry. The laundry also looks bigger too! Oh, and on Friday I bought some hooks and all our backpacks are now hanging on the laundry wall (much better than dumped in the hallway!)

Had some of Brad's plunket friends over this morning... 6 Mums, 6 2 year olds and their siblings... 15 months, 6 months, 3 months and 2 months. It was great fun, if somewhat loud until after morning tea when we let them outside!
