First Power Cut, First Frost

Last night we had a power cut, starting at 7.15pm, we got power back after an hour or so, then it went out and on and out and finally stayed on about 9pm - at which point we'd had the generator going (numerous times), done most of the dishes, I'd started crocheting another beanie, Brad had just got to sleep (it kept going dark.. .which just became a novelty after the 2nd time!) and we'd had a hot drink thanks to the camping stove.

So, the shopping list:

• Battery powered "night lights" for the boys rooms
• A good supply of AA and AAA batteries
• A bigger generator - the current one doesn't start the pellet fire and we'll want a bigger one out on our land before the house is built.

And this morning, we woke to the first frost. In fact, at 8.40am its still frosty out there. However, the sun is out and its going to be an awesome winter's day... shame the gondola is closed or we'd go for a trip up the hills! Hmmm, what else could we do? Might wait til its warmed up a bit, both boys have snot and a bit of a cough too.
